Rivière Wheeler is a left tributary of the Rivière à la Baleine in the north of the Labrador Peninsula in the Canadian province of Québec .
The river has its origin south of Lac Keato , almost 300 km south of Ungava Bay . It flows north. It forms the lake Lac Wheeler in the lower reaches . Numerous rapids mark its last four kilometers before its confluence with the Rivière à la Baleine . The place where these two rivers meet is called Kanniq , the Naskapi word for "confluence".
The river was named after EP Wheeler, an American geologist at Cornell University who traveled to Labrador and the Ungava Peninsula in 1926–1928.
