The Rivière à la Baleine ( English Whale River ) is a river in the north of the Canadian province of Québec .

It originates near Schefferville and flows north to Ungava Bay . The Rivière Wheeler flows into the river from the left. It has a length of 428 km, a catchment area of 31,900 km² and an average discharge of 580 m³ / s. Its catchment area borders on that of the Rivière George to the east and that of the Rivière Koksoak and its tributary Rivière Caniapiscau to the west .
