Schefferville is a city in the Canadian province of Quebec . The city is located in the regional county municipality ( municipalité régionale de comté ) Caniapiscau and was founded in 1955 after iron ore was discovered in the area of Côte-Nord . In the 1960s the community had about 5000 inhabitants, most of whom moved away after the ore mining ended.
