Rob Letterman

Robert Thomas "Rob" Letterman (born October 31, 1970 in Honolulu , Hawaii ) is an American film director and screenwriter .

Life

Letterman was born in Honolulu . There he also attended the Mid-Pacific Institute . He graduated from the University of Southern California . During his student days he made his first short film Los Gringos in 1999 , which was shown at the 2000 Sundance Film Festival . For DreamWorks Animation , he and one or two other directors directed the animated films Big Sharks - Small Fish (2004) and Monsters vs. Aliens (2009). He was also involved as a screenwriter on both films.

In 2010 he shot his first feature film, Gulliver's Travels - Something Big Is Coming Up For Us , a loose adaptation of the novel of the same name . In 2019, his real film adaptation Pokémon Detective Pikachu , which is based on the video game of the same name , was released.

Letterman is the father of two children.
