Karl Robert Beielstein (born December 4, 1859 in Bochum , † 1933 in Berlin ) was a German portrait, animal and genre painter.

Life

Born as the son of master plumber Wilhelm Beielstein and his wife Helene, Robert Beielstein studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy in 1876/77 in the elementary class with Andreas Müller and Heinrich Lauenstein , from 1877 to 1879 in the natural drawing class with Johann Peter Theodor Janssen and in the class of antiquities with Carl Müller . From 1879 he attended the painting classes of Julius Roeting and Eduard von Gebhardt , the landscape class with Eugen Dücker and finally in 1880 the "United painting class" of Roeting and von Gebhardt.

He continued his studies from April 14, 1883 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich. After graduating, he settled in Munich. In 1891 he married Anna Bertha Eugenia Finkner from Belgard in Berlin (born May 7, 1870 in Belgard). and from then on worked in Berlin, where he also participated in the exhibitions of the Kgl. Academy and the Great Berlin Art Exhibition . He was best known as a horse painter, but also painted other compositions with animals, figural scenes and, above all, portraits.
