Robert Bierich

Robert Bierich (born January 21, 1876 in Riga , † November 26, 1957 in Hamburg ) was a German cell physiologist and professor at the University of Hamburg .

Bierich received his doctorate in 1900 at the University of Königsberg and from 1927 was an adjunct professor at the University of Hamburg. In November 1933 he signed the confession of the German professors about Adolf Hitler . He was a member of the Reich Committee for Combating Cancer. From 1937 he was in the NS-Ärztebund , in 1942 he joined the NSDAP . He was director of the Cancer Research Institute at the University of Hamburg from 1920 to 1949, where u. a. a practical indicator of the life expectancy of cancer patients has been found.

The pediatrician Jürgen Robert Bierich (born January 11, 1921 ; † January 14, 1994 ), professor in Tübingen and the manager Marcus Bierich (born April 29, 1926 ; † November 25, 2000 ) were his sons.
