Robert Cunninghame Graham
Robert Bontine Cunninghame Graham (born May 24, 1852 in London , † March 20, 1936 in Buenos Aires , Argentina ; also Roberto Bontine Cunninghame Graham ), nicknamed Don Roberto , was a Scottish-Spanish aristocrat , socialist politician and adventurer.
Graham worked closely with Friedrich Engels and was one of the first socialist MPs in the British House of Commons . Graham participated in several revolutions in Latin America. He advised his friend Joseph Conrad on the creation of the novel Nostromo .
He recorded his adventurous travels in several novels and stories. According to the Long Riders' Guild Press, his novel Vanished Arcadia inspired the 1986 film Mission (original title The Mission ).
