Robert C. Tucker

Robert Charles Tucker (born May 29, 1918 in Kansas City , Missouri , † July 29, 2010 in Princeton , New Jersey ) was an American political scientist and professor at Princeton University . His research areas included the Soviet Union , Josef Stalin and Marxism .

Tucker earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Harvard University and received his doctorate there after he returned in 1953 from nine years as an attaché at the US embassy in Moscow .

Before joining Princeton University in 1962, Tucker did research at Rand Corporation and taught for two years at Indiana University . At Princeton, he was the first director of the Russian Studies Program. In 1975 he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .

Tucker was married and had a daughter.
