Robert Cimera , usually just called Robert (born September 17, 1887 in Vienna) was an Austrian football player in the position of runner, later also played defender . With the Austrian national soccer team he took part in the Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912 .

Career

Robert Cimera began his career as a football player with DFC Prague . In 1908 he made the leap from the blue-whites to the Austrian national team, with which he made his debut against the football instructor England . As a left runner, Robert Cimera was allowed to accompany the national team to Stockholm for the Olympic Games in 1912 . In the opening game against Germany , Cimera and his team had an easy game after a German defender ran down his own goalkeeper. Austria won 5-1, Robert Cimera scored the final goal. In the next round, however, there was a surprising elimination against the Netherlands .

The national team was able to continue the competition in a specially created, but actually meaningless, "round of hope". Here Robert Cimera came after victories over Norway and Italy to the final against Hungary , in which he and the team lost 3-0. During the First World War , the runner ended up in Hütteldorf , where he was only used relatively rarely in defense. He played his last international match against Hungary in 1915.

From 1916 he fought on the Italian front in World War I, was appointed first lieutenant in 1917 and injured twice.
