Robert Défossé (born June 19, 1909 in Liévin , Pas-de-Calais Department , † August 30, 1973 ) was a French football goalkeeper .

Career

society

Before he started playing football, Robert Défossé devoted to the age of thirteen boxes and gymnastics in his hometown Liévin . Défossé began playing football at Étoile Sportive Bully-les-Mines . After the introduction of professional football in France, he joined Olympique Lille in 1932 and immediately became French champions with his club . After six successful years in northern France, he moved in 1938 to the relegated Red Star Paris in Division 2 , where he ended his career after a year with the promotion.

National team

On February 12, 1933 Robert Défossé made his debut in the French national team in the 4-0 defeat against Austria . Despite the four goals conceded by the "wonder team", he received positive reviews.

At the 1934 World Cup in Italy , Défossé was appointed second goalkeeper behind Alex Thépot in the French squad. He played his last of nine international matches for the "Bleus" on December 13, 1936 in a 1-0 win against Yugoslavia .
