Robert Edwards (musician)

Robert Edwards (* around 1980 in West Palm Beach ) is an American jazz musician ( trombone , bass trombone ).

Robert Edwards first studied at the University of North Florida (first recordings were made with its Jazz Ensemble in 2004) and then attended the Juilliard School in New York. From the early 2000s he worked in the city's jazz scene with Michael Dease , Nancy Harrow , Claudio Roditi , Christian McBride and in various big bands such as The Jazz Conceptions Orchestra, Jason Hainsworth Jazz Orchestra, the Roy Hargrove Big Band, Dizzy Gillespie All-Star Big Band ( Ghost Band led by John Lee ), the Roy Assaf Big Band and the Jimmy Heath Big Band. In 2008 a. a. with Alex Nguyen , Michael Dease, Zaccai Curtis , Linda Oh and Mark Whitfield, Jr. on the album Let's Cool One (DW Jazz). In the field of jazz he was involved in 16 recording sessions between 2004 and 2017. Currently (2019) he leads the Robert Edwards Quintet , which includes Joe Magnarelli , Neal Miner , Vanessa Perea (vocals) and Aaron Kimmel (drums).
