Robert Ehrhart-Ehrhartstein

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Robert Freiherr Ehrhart von Ehrhartstein (born September 12, 1870 in Innsbruck ; died November 11, 1956 in Baden near Vienna ) was an Austrian ministerial official and writer.

Life

Ehrhart was an Austrian ministerial official who made it to the position of section head in the Presidium of the Council of Ministers in Austria-Hungary . In July 1917, his father and thus also him and his siblings were given the baron status. On November 12, 1918, he retired. After that he was still active as the "executive vice-president of the main industry association", a function in which he worked several times with the Viennese mayor Karl Seitz and was valued by him - despite opposing orientations.

Ehrhart already frequented Café Griensteidl in the 1890s and tried to be successful as a writer. As a man of letters, however, he was denied greater recognition throughout his life. Hugo von Hofmannsthal valued him and also used himself for his texts. Ehrhart's letters to him are now being kept in the Free Deutsche Hochstift , counter letters in the Austrian State Archives . He is also mentioned nine times in Arthur Schnitzler's diary between 1892 and 1931.
