Robert Enders (artist)

Robert Enders (* 1928 in Sulingen , Lower Saxony ; † May 24, 2003 in Sulingen) was a German artist and art educator . He lived and worked in Sulingen and worked regionally as an artist. His works are in private and public ownership. He is particularly known for his life-size sculptures in public spaces.

Live and act

For decades, Enders taught the subjects of handicrafts and arts at the Sulingen grammar school. Since 1958 he has also been active as a freelance artist. As such, he created numerous works of art, especially in Sulingen and Bruchhausen-Vilsen . They can be viewed there as "art in public space". In 2003 he died in Sulingen at the age of 75.

Sculptures in Sulingen

Scattered, sometimes somewhat hidden, in the Sulingen cityscape, there are a number of very different sculptures and objects. The eight art objects from the years 1964–2000 are made of different materials - bronze , steel, natural stone and concrete :

  • in the Mühlenhofpark warning hands (natural stone, 1964), a memorial against the war
  • on the grounds of the Lebenshilfe workshops in North Sulingen, the sculpture Life and Forces (Metall, 1985), which consists of four elements
  • the town hall the village fountain from stainless steel and stone (1988)
  • in downtown Sulingen the bronze sculpture Der Scythe Smith (1991)
  • by the newspaper building in Lindenstrasse, the fountain Der Zeitungsleser (bronze, 1993)
  • the frog fountain (bronze, 1995) in the city center on Lange Strasse
  • on the grounds of the grammar school / city theater on Schmelingstrasse the bronze sculpture Europe and the nine muses (2000)
  • in the district of Nechtelsen on the grounds of the "Sulinger Land water supply" a well (concrete and natural stone, 1982)
