With over 5000 inhabitants, Nieder-Mörlen is the largest district of Bad Nauheim in the Hessian Wetterau district, along with the core city .

Geographical location

Nieder-Mörlen is located on the northern left bank of the USA and north of the core city of Bad Nauheim. The buildings merge into one another. Beyond the United States, the 269 meter high rises Eichberg , who for Nauheim Taunus spur counts and the easternmost peak of the Taunus main ridge in the High Taunus represents. The district area is 576 hectares, of which 86 hectares are forested (status: 1961).

The federal highway 275 and the federal highway 3 form a bypass in the west, north and east of the locality . Nieder-Mörlen is connected to the federal motorway (BAB) A 5 / E 451 in the west via the Ober-Mörlen exit .

history

The place is mentioned for the first time in the year 790. About 7000 years earlier, as excavations have confirmed, there was a ceramic settlement.

The Church of St. Mary of the Assumption was built in Baroque style and consecrated in 1754. In 1780 the USA chapel was built. The Protestant Christ Church was only built in 1956/57.

As part of the regional reform in Hesse , the municipality of Nieder-Mörlen was incorporated into the city of Bad Nauheim on August 1, 1972 by virtue of state law.

coat of arms

On February 28, 1964, the municipality of Nieder-Mörlen in what was then the district of Friedberg was given a coat of arms with the following blazon : In gold on a blue diagonal cross, a red heart shield with a silver lamb carrying a black cross and bleeding into a chalice .
