Robert Faller

Robert Faller (born April 16, 1924 in Le Locle , † June 24, 1983 in Lausanne , resident in Le Petit-Saconnex ) was a Swiss conductor .

biography

Faller studied violin , horn and orchestral conducting at the conservatories of La Chaux-de-Fonds and Bern . He played with the St. Gallen Symphony Orchestra for a year before continuing his studies in Paris . In 1948 he became violinist and then principal horn with the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra . From 1953 he worked as a teacher at the Lausanne Conservatory. In 1956 he followed in his father's footsteps and took over his activities - from then on he conducted numerous concerts in Switzerland and abroad. He enjoyed further training from 1961 to 1962 with Rafael Kubelík and Igor Markevitch and worked from 1967 to 1983 as their assistant. His pupils on the horn included Bruno Schneider and Jean Balissat .

Honors

In 1969 he received the Arthur Honegger Prize and from then on he was a constant participant in the Paris Summer Festival.
