Robert Frohn

Robert Frohn (born January 8, 1913 in Neuss am Rhein , † December 21, 1991 in Cologne ) was a German educator, historian and local politician (CDU).

Life

Robert Frohn was a member of the Bund New Germany since 1923, from 1930 to 1932 group leader in Neuss. After graduating from high school in 1932, he joined the Elder League and was a group leader in the Cologne student group. He worked for the magazines "Burg", "Leuchtturm" and "Werkblätter". After the end of the war, he got involved in the establishment of the Elder League in Cologne and was the head of the Palatinate. From 1948 to 1950 he was the first director of the men's ring and from 1959 to 1962 President of the Catholic German Academic Union .

Robert Frohn studied history (Dr. phil.) At the University of Cologne and was a high school teacher. From 1953 to 1975 he was director of the Municipal New Language High School Cologne for boys and girls, Schaurtestrasse in Cologne-Deutz .

In 1945 Frohn was one of the re-founders of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany in Cologne and city councilor for the city of Cologne from 1970 to 1979. He had been chairman of the Cologne theater community since 1978. He has published numerous articles, essays and books on the history of the city of Cologne and in 1989 became an honorary member of the Heimatverein Alt Köln eV

In 1958 Robert Frohn was appointed Knight of the Papal Knightly Order of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Nicola Cardinal Canali and invested in the Order Church of St. Andrew's Basilica on December 6, 1958 by Lorenz Jaeger , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy . Most recently he held the rank of Grand Cross Knight.
