Robert Gover

Robert Gover (born November 2, 1929 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , † January 12, 2015 in Rehoboth Beach , Delaware ) was an American journalist and author .

Life

Gover's father died in a car accident when he was an infant. Since his mother was destitute , also as a result of the global economic crisis , she gave her son into the care of a foundation in his hometown, the orphanage and school of Girard College . Because of his exceptional achievements in swimming at his school, he received a scholarship for further studies. He chose the University of Pittsburgh for its creative writing program . In the first year of study, however, he decided to study economics , which he completed in 1952 with a Bachelor of Arts .

Gover worked in the following years for various regional newspapers and for two years in the PR department of the Babcock & Wilcox Steel Company. Since 1960 he has devoted himself entirely to his writing activities. In 1962 he was able to publish his first novel One Hundred Dollar Misunderstanding in California after it found no publisher in the eastern United States and first appeared in France.

By 2006 Gover had published more than a dozen novels and other works, some of which were also published in German.

In the final years of his life, Gover moved from California to Delaware, where he died in 2015.
