Robert Hardy Smith
Robert Hardy Smith (born March 21, 1813 in Camden County , North Carolina , † March 13, 1878 in Mobile , Mobile County , Alabama ) was an American politician from the 19th century .
Smith was a member of the Alabama State Legislature in 1849 . Then he held a seat in the Alabama Senate in 1851 . After the secession of Alabama in 1861, he represented that state in the Provisional Confederate Congress . He also served in the Confederate Army with the rank of Colonel during the American Civil War .
He died in Mobile, Alabama, in 1878, and was then buried there in Magnolia Cemetery .
