The film begins with the funeral of the murdered Robert F. Kennedy and shows the funeral procession slowly moving towards Washington, DC .

With his film, Charles Guggenheim pays tribute to a man who, after his brother John F. Kennedy was assassinated as incumbent President of the United States , also aspired to the office of president. The triumphant moments in Kennedy's life are shown, but the tragedies are not excluded either. Newsreel recordings and archive images form the basis for the film.

Production and Background

The film was made within four weeks, two months after Robert Kennedy's murder. Guggenheim Production worked on it around the clock. Robert Kennedy Remembered ran simultaneously on all television channels in the United States on August 26, 1968 .

The actor Richard Burton spoke the connecting texts. Robert Kennedy's family had commissioned the film.

Robert F. Kennedy (November 20, 1925 - June 6, 1968) was an American politician. He was one of the younger brothers of US President John F. Kennedy. Like him, he was assassinated . Just as he was trying to become a promising candidate for the US presidency , he was shot and critically injured in the ballroom of the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles on the night of June 4th to 5th . Kennedy died a day later from his serious injuries. His assassin Sirhan Sirhan is serving his sentence, which was commuted to life imprisonment after an amendment of a 1969 judgment given death sentence in state prison of Coalinga in California from.
