Robert Klümpen

Robert Klümpen (* 1973 in Issum ) is a German painter.

Life

Robert Klümpen studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy with AR Penck and Dieter Krieg , with whom he was a master class student in 2000. From 2014 to 2018 he was a professor at the Dresden University of Fine Arts . In the 2018/19 winter semester, Klümpen took over the professorship for painting and graphic practice / art education at the Burg Giebichenstein Art Academy in Halle. He lives and works in Cologne and Halle (Saale) .

True-to-scale depictions of kiosks, supermarkets and doors ensure in Robert Klümpen's paintings an irritating coexistence of apparent realism and the undermining abstraction of these depictions. Night representations of brightly lit booths, kiosks, but also pubs and sex shops as well as street views with lanterns are executed with subtle use of color.
