Robert Kretzschmar (saxophonist)
Robert Kretzschmar (born November 21, 1961 in Billerbeck ; † August 17, 2012 in Ireland ) was a German saxophonist, pianist, arranger, composer and music teacher.
Robert Kretzschmar studied musicology and classical piano at the University of Osnabrück , but soon discovered the tenor saxophone for himself. He remained connected to the university in the music department, as well as teaching saxophone and ensemble leader at the Osnabrück Conservatory .
Kretzschmar became known far beyond the local area as a member of the Blues Company , in which he has appeared together with Uwe Nolopp as "Fabulous BC Horns" since 1999 , wrote the arrangements for the wind section and participated in numerous CD productions. Other stations in his work include, among other things, his participation in the Miro Nemec Band , arrangements for the jazz singer and actress Christiane Hagedorn , collaboration with the singer Eva Mayerhofer as well as numerous arrangements and compositions for the NDR Big Band . He also played innovative jazz in Joachim Raffel's band.
Robert Kretzschmar died of a heart attack in August 2012 while on vacation .
