Robert Lantos (born April 3, 1949 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian film producer .

Live and act

After his family fled the Hungarian revolution in 1956, Robert Lantos grew up in Montevideo . In 1963 the family immigrated again to a foreign country, this time they moved to Canada, more precisely to Montréal . Lantos attended Northmount High School and later McGill University . Together with his friend Victor Loewy, he founded his first company called Vivafilm in 1972, while still a student . Just three years later he founded a sister company called RSL Films with Stephen Roth . In 1977 he produced his first film L'Ange et la Femme on a tight budget . His next film, Lust auf Liebe mit Tom Berenger , was to be an international success.

RSL and Vivafilm merged with International Cinema Corporation in 1985 to form Alliance Communications Corporation . Lantos became vice chairman there. Just two years later, he became Chairman and CEO . Lantos led the company in a strong phase of development and expansion. Alliance Communications Corporation became a major international force in film production and distribution. After entertainment and history also flowed into the company as topics, she also became a central figure on the Canadian broadcasters.

When Alliance Communications Corporation merged with Atlantis Communications, the second largest television production company in Canada, in 1998, Lantos sold and left its stake in the company. He continues to produce in Canada and abroad with his new Toronto-based company, Serendipity Point Films .

Lantos is committed to the State of Israel and also supports it. He first visited the country in 1969 and now travels there regularly. Lantos also produced several films there, including Gideon's sword . He is also a member of the Order of Canada .

Lantos was married to actress Jennifer Dale from 1980 to 1986 . From this marriage the children Ari, born 1980, and Sabrina.
