Robert Leckie (born October 19, 1846 in Scotland , † February 1887 in Port Elizabeth , South Africa ) was a Scottish football player . He was probably one of the founding members who founded the oldest Scottish football club to this day, FC Queen's Park from Glasgow, on July 9, 1867 . At the same time, Leckie played the first official international match in football history between Scotland and England in November 1872 .
Career
Robert Leckie played in his active career that lasted from 1867 to 1875 exclusively for the Scottish capital club FC Queen's Park, which he and other people had founded on July 9, 1867. With the club he was able to win the Scottish Cup twice in the following years . At the first edition in 1874 and again in 1875 .
The first and last international match that Leckie completed in 1872 was also the first of the Scottish national football team and the first official international match in the history of football. The game between Scotland and England was played on November 30, 1872 on Hamilton Crescent in what is now Partick, part of Glasgow. The game, which around 3,000 spectators watched, ended 0-0. The Scottish team consisted exclusively of players from Queen's Park FC . Robert Leckie ended his career in 1875.
