Robert Leong
Robert Leong (born December 23, 1924 in Honolulu , Hawaii , USA; † January 1, 2013 in Sacramento , California , USA) was an internationally active American grandmaster, Hanshi , of the martial art of Shorinji ryu ( Karate , Kobudo , Tai Chi Chuan ). He learned from the style founder Richard Kim (* 1917; † 2001), Hanshi, 10th Dan , and was his right-hand man since 1962 . Both worked for the merchant navy, where they first met in 1947. In 1966 Leong received his 1st Dan from Zen Bei Butoku Kai . Robert Leong was honorary president of the Kokusai Butokukai .
