Shorinji Ryu Karate Thu

The roots of traditional Shorinji Ryu Karate Do go back well before the 17th century. The peculiarity of this art lies not only in the historical occurrence, but also in the remarkable integration of the original Chinese arts ( Shaolin Kung Fu , Chi Kung, five-element-teaching ) as well as the Okinawan martial arts ( Okinawa-Te , Tōde, Naha - Te, Shuri-Te, Tomari-Te) in this style. In Shorinji Ryu Karate Do, special emphasis is placed on preserving the Chinese, Okinawan and Japanese influences in this art of Karate Do. The uses of kicks, punches, levers and throws based on this make this art so remarkable. The particular effectiveness of Shorinji Ryu Karate Do becomes clear in the practical applications in self-defense. The focus of all movements is the anatomical and spiritual abilities of the human body and the associated sense of well-being when dealing with energy (Chi, Qi ).

In Shorinji ryu, Chi Kung serves, among other things, for the conscious coordination of breathing and movement as well as the visualization of energy. The conscious handling of the centers of one's own energy is also essential. For exercises such as B. meditation is the highest goal that the mind comes to rest, the inner emptiness and peace.

In order to be able to dive into the spiritual depths of the martial arts, Richard Kim considered the Chi Kung to be indispensable.
