Robert Livingston (actor)

Robert Livingston (* 9. December 1904 in Quincy , Illinois as Robert Edward Randall , † 7. March 1988 in Tarzana , California ) was an American actor .

Life

Robert Livingston was the son of a journalist and the older brother of actor Addison Randall . At the age of 20 he began to take on minor roles in silent films for Universal Studios and Fox Film Corporation . Parallel to the film, he also played theater at the Pasadena Community Playhouse , where he was discovered and hired by a talent scout from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in the early 1930s . As a supporting actor, he eventually began to star in such films as Mutiny on the Bounty and Small Town Girls. In 1936 he moved to the newly founded production company Republic Pictures , where he was offered several leading roles. There he was built up to a western star and played mainly in B-movies . By the time he actually retired in 1958, he played in over 130 film productions.

Livingston died on March 7, at the age of 83, of complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease . He was buried in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale , California. He was married five times in his life. Among other things, he was from 1947 to 1951 he was married to the actress Margaret Roach , the daughter of the filmmaker Hal Roach . Their daughter Addison Randall is also an actress.
