Robert Lowery

Robert Lowery (actually Robert Larkins Hank ; born October 17, 1913 in Kansas City , Missouri , † December 26, 1971 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor . He was best known for his roles as Batman in the 1949 serial Batman and Robin .

Life

Lowery attended Paseo High School in his hometown and began his artistic career as a singer with the Slats Randall Orchestra. He also played baseball with a sub-class team . When he moved to Los Angeles with his mother after his father's death, he began an acting career that led him to roles in over 70 films, mostly in genre works with low production budgets , and to many appearances in serials . Initially, however, he was active on the stage until he was signed by Twentieth Century Fox in 1937 . With the film The Mummy's Ghost , he also starred in a representative of universal horror . In 1956 he made a guest appearance in an episode of Superman . In addition to his film career, he was still active on the stage and also took on television engagements, for example in the series Circus Boy in 1956/1957. Lowery died of heart failure at the age of 58.

Lowery was married three times, including to colleague Jean Parker .
