Robert Mehlhose

Robert Mehlhose (born January 16, 1941 in Bunzlau ; † April 1, 2007 ) was a German Protestant theologian and head of the journalism department of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD).

Life

Born in Silesia , Mehlhose studied theology in Tübingen and Göttingen . Then he became pastor of the Brunswick regional church . He was the broadcasting officer of the North German state and free churches. In 1971 he began to set up a “Distance Learning for Church Services” position. From 1987 to 1995 he was responsible for theological training as well as for sect and ideological issues at the EKD. From 1995 to 2004 he headed the journalism department in the EKD church office in Hanover as senior church councilor . Its task was to expand the presence of Protestantism on radio, television and on the Internet. From 1996 he built up the EKD's internet portal. His work also included handling the deficit German General Sunday Gazette , which was published as an independent weekly newspaper by the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) until 2000 . In 1997, Mehlhose gave the broadcasting commission, which until then had been taken care of by the director of the community organization for Protestant journalism (GEP), an independent office. In 2004 he received the media award Golden Compass of the Christian media association KEP .
