Robert Nelles

Robert Nelles (born January 23, 1958 in Sankt Vith ) is a Belgian politician of the German-speaking Christian Social Party (CSP). He was the lead candidate of the CSP for the elections to the parliament of the German-speaking community on May 25, 2014. Since June 2014 he has been a member of the parliament of the German-speaking community .

Life

Robert Nelles studied philosophy at the Catholic University of New Leuven ( UCL ) and graduated with a license in 1980. From 1980 to 1982 he worked as a history, Latin and French teacher at the Royal Athenaeum of Saint Vith.

After his military service, he worked for the CSP parliamentary group in the German-speaking community. From 1986 to 1988 he moved to the cabinet of the then Prime Minister of the Walloon Region, Melchior Wathelet . From 1988 he was head of the foreign trade department in the cabinet of Minister Albert Liénard .

After that, Nelles worked as an independent management consultant.

In 1991 Nelles moved to the FOREM employment office in the Walloon Region (central administration in Brussels and Charleroi). There he was the first advisor for the interests of the German-speaking community and prepared the transfer of the employment competence area to the German-speaking community. At FOREM, Nelles was also responsible for strategy, organization and development.

After transferring the employment competence to the DG, Nelles became a senior official at the employment office of the German-speaking community.

In October 2013 Robert Nelles announced his candidacy as Prime Minister candidate on the list of the CSP for the parliament of the German-speaking community. Since June 2014 he has been a member of the Parliament of the German-speaking Community .

Nelles is married with one child. He lives in Büllingen .

Overview of activities and offices

As a youth, Robert Nelles was a member and leader of the CHIRO youth movement Sankt Vith. As a student he was a member and president of the Eumavia student association in New Leuven.

In the 80s and 90s Nelles was section president of the CSP local sections Sankt Vith / Burg-Reuland and Büllingen.

From 1986 to 1991 Nelles was President and a member of the BRF Board of Directors .

Robert Nelles is currently a member of the board of directors of the Economic Development Corporation (WFG) and Vice President of Ostbelgieninvest (OBI).
