Robert Odell
Robert A. Odell (born May 4, 1896 in Los Angeles , California , † February 20, 1984 ibid) was an American art director and production designer who was nominated for an Oscar for best production design at the 1940 Academy Awards .
Life
Odell began his career as art director and production designer in 1920 for the silent film drama Occasionally Yours by James W. Horne with Lew Cody , Betty Blythe and J. Barney Sherry in the lead roles and worked in the course of his career until 1940 on the staging of over forty films .
At the Academy Awards in 1940 he was nominated together with Hans Dreier for the Oscar for best production design in the adventure film Three Foreign Legionaries (1939), which was directed by William A. Wellman and in which Gary Cooper , Ray Milland and Robert Preston the leading roles played.
