Robert Reininger

Robert Reininger (born September 28, 1869 in Linz , † June 17, 1955 in Vienna ) was an Austrian philosopher in the tradition of Immanuel Kant .

Life

Robert Reininger studied from 1888 philosophy and science in Bonn, Heidelberg and Vienna and received his doctorate in 1893 at the University of Vienna Dr. phil. (He chose zoology as a minor). From 1903 he had the Venia legendi for the history of philosophy at the University of Vienna. He taught there from 1913 first as an associate professor and from 1922 as a full professor. Robert Reininger was a member of the anti-Semitic professors' clique Bärenhöhle .

Robert Reininger is considered a representative of the philosophy of immanence , who dealt with epistemological and ethical questions, especially in the follow-up to Immanuel Kant .

From 1912 to 1939 he was chairman of the Philosophical Society at the University of Vienna, from 1924 a full member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and from 1940 a corresponding member of the Prussian Academy of Sciences .
