Robert Richter (chemist)

Robert Julius Richter (born March 21, 1823 or 1824 in Freiberg , † February 21, 1869 or 1871 in Budapest ) was a German chemist and university professor.

Life

Robert Richter studied at the Bergakademie Freiberg . Here he joined the Corps Franconia Freiberg in 1842 .

After completing his studies, he worked as an assistant to Theodor Scheerer in the chemical laboratory of the Bergakademie. On September 22nd, 1857 he was appointed professor of metallurgy at the Steiermärkisch-Ständische Montanlehranstalt in Leoben (today's Montan University ). By decree of October 14, 1861, the k. k. Ministry of Finance here to professor of physics and chemistry with the inclusion of the trial studies. On August 9, 1866, he accepted a call as professor of physics and chemistry at the Bergakademie Schemnitz .

Robert Richter's work extended both to the improvement of the processes for the production of iron and to the quantitative analysis of rocks. The analyzes and silica determinations of plutonites and in particular the analysis of feldspars from rocks in the Ore Mountains should be mentioned here . He was co-editor of the mining and metallurgical yearbooks.
