Robert Schumacher (politician, 1804)

Robert Elger Schumacher , also Robert Elier Schumacher (born July 10, 1804 in Korbach ; † December 3, 1887 ibid) was a German lawyer and politician .

Schumacher was the son of city commissioner Ernst August Theodor Schumacher and his wife Christine Caroline Dorothea nee Alberti. He remained unmarried.

Schumacher studied law in Marburg and Göttingen. In 1835 he passed his exams and became a lawyer. In 1848 he became court procurator. From 1853 to 1863 he was mayor of Korbach. He was director of the savings bank.

After the March Revolution he was a member of the Landtag of the Principality of Waldeck-Pyrmont from 1848 to 1849 . He was elected in the 1st urban constituency. To distinguish himself from Wolrad Schumacher , he was listed in the state parliament protocols as Schumacher II.
