Roberto Franchini (born December 13, 1973 in Montreal , Québec , Canada ) is a former Australian ice hockey player who was under contract for five seasons with the Sydney Bears in the Australian Ice Hockey League .
Career
Roberto Franchini, who was born in Canada, spent his entire career with the Sydney Bears , for whom he played in the Australian Ice Hockey League from 2006 to 2010 . With the Bears he won the Goodall Cup , the Australian championship , in 2007 . In 2008 he won the main round with his team and was awarded the VIP Cup for it. In the playoffs, however, the bears were eliminated in the semi-finals against the Newcastle North Stars .
International
With the Australian national team he played at the 2009 World Cup in Division I and had to accept relegation there. At the 2010 World Cup , he competed with the Aussies in Division II.
