Roberto Giorgetti

Roberto Giorgetti (born November 4, 1962 in Borgo Maggiore ) is a San Marinese politician.

Giorgetti is studying economics at the University of Bologna . He was employed by various cultural organizations and was a member of the board of directors of the San Marinese social security ISS and the AASS . In 2013 he was elected to the Board of Directors of the San Marino Post Office .

Active since 1981 in the youth organization of the Partito Democratico Cristiano Sammarinese youth organization , he was elected to the board in 1983. From 1984 to 1990 he was political secretary. In 1992 he left the party and in 1996 became a member of the Alleanza Popolare . From 2001 to 2006 he was the party's coordinator.

In 1998 and 2001 he ran for the San Marinese parliament, the Consiglio Grande e Generale , but failed to get into parliament. In the 2006 election, he entered parliament for the first time. In the 2008 election he was able to defend his seat in parliament. He became group leader of the AP and a member of the Foreign, Finance and Justice Committee. In the parliamentary elections in 2012, the AP received only four seats, Giorgetti reached number ten on the list and lost his mandate. Before the new elections in November 2016, the AP merged with the Unione per la Repubblica (UpR) to form Repubblica Futura (RF). As part of the adesso.sm coalition which won the runoff election on December 4, 2016, RF won 11 seats in parliament. Giorgetti moved back into parliament and became group leader of the RF.

For the period from October 1, 2006 to April 1, 2007 he was elected head of state of San Marino ( Capitano Reggente ) together with Antonio Carattoni .

Giorgetti is married has one son and lives in Borgo Maggiore .
