Roberto González Fernández

Roberto González Fernández (* 1948 in Monforte de Lemos , Lugo province , Spain ) is a Spanish painter of realism .

Life

González Fernández studied at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid between 1969 and 1974 . In 1977 he moved to Edinburgh , Scotland . Since then he has been working as a painter between Edinburgh, La Coruña and Madrid.

In 1984 he received a scholarship from the New York Foundation for the Arts. Known as an exponent of Spanish realism , he also works with photography in collaboration with the artist David Trullo . His painting is of great formal realism, homosexuality and the treatment of homoeroticism are key to his work. His career began in 1967 at the Artes Coruña gallery. However, many of his exhibitions have been held in the UK, where he still exhibits annually. In November 2008 there was an anthology exhibition in Ferrol with around 300 works from his career. In Germany he was in the exhibition in 1996: The main thing is subjective - everything is allowed to be seen in the Gropiusbau . In 2017 the Museo de Belas Artes da Coruña exhibited its series Los observadores y observados .

His works are represented in well-known collections such as Caixanova, Diputación de La Coruna, Museo de Belas Artes da Coruña , Edinburgh City Art Center, Hunterian Museum , Kelvingrove Museum, Glasgow, Argentaria Foundation, Madrid and other art centers in the world such as Forbes -Collection New York and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
