Roberto Moccetti

Roberto Moccetti (born September 18, 1926 in Lugano ; † February 9, 2004 ibid) was a Swiss civil engineer and instruction officer.

Life

Roberto Moccetti was the son of the architect and instructor Ettore and Ines Balestra. He attended the Lyceum in Lugano (Maraini Prize). In 1945 he received his degree in civil engineering from the ETH Zurich (Timoshenko Prize). In 1947, he was the officer Swiss Army , 1950, he began his military career as an instructor of genius troops . Between 1952 and 1968 he was an engineer and from 1968 director of the Ofima Maggia power plants. He played a key role in the construction of large dams in the canton of Ticino , such as Robièi , Sambuco and Malvaglia .

His career in the military: in 1959 he became a general staff officer, in 1963 Cdt bat G 9, 1968, Cdt bat fuc 294, 1972, Cdt rgt fant 40, 1973, Cdt rgt fant mont 30, 1976–1978 commander of the border brigade 9 and 1979–1983 Mountain Division 9 . Between 1984 and 1988 he was corps commander of Mountain Army Corps 3 .

He was particularly interested in fortifications and in the destruction of the Alpine region . As a politician, he was an FDP local councilor in Locarno from 1960–1972 (President 1969–1970).
