Robin Johannsen

Robin Johannsen (* in Philadelphia ) is an American opera singer (soprano).

Life

Robin Johannsen studied singing at Carnegie Mellon University (BA) and at the University of Cincinnati (MA). In 2002 she won a scholarship from the American Berlin Opera Foundation for the Deutsche Oper Berlin , where she became a permanent member of the ensemble in the following season Role of "Susanna" in The Marriage of Figaro was assigned. Christian Thielemann invited her to the Bayreuth Festival as “A Young Shepherd” in Tannhäuser , where she sang “Waldvogel” in Siegfried over the next five seasons - from the height of the upper stage lights.

From 2005 to 2007 Johannsen had an engagement at the Leipzig Opera for leading soprano roles in classical opera literature such as " Pamina ", " Gretel ", "Susanna", " Marzelline ", " Blonde " and "Valencienne" in a new production of The Merry Widow . With the Bach Consort Vienna she sang Handel cantatas in the Wiener Musikverein .

Johannsen has been a freelance artist since the 2007/2008 season. In the following years she shifted the focus of her work to baroque music .
