Life

He was the son of the Heilbronn gold goods manufacturer Franz Herrmann († 1944). The father founded the factory at Kaiserstrasse 17 in 1899 and moved into a plot of land at Allee 32 in 1932. The factory was destroyed in the air raid on December 4, 1944 , and Franz Hermann was also killed. Oskar Herrmann had meanwhile been drafted into military service. At the end of the war he was taken prisoner by the Soviets , but was released after four months. Back in Heilbronn, he set about rebuilding the family business. The makeshift barracks on the avenue with which he began the reconstruction had to give way in the 1950s for the new building of the festival hall Harmonie under pressure from Lord Mayor Paul Meyle ; Hermann found a new company location at Lerchenstrasse 12. Herrmann's company primarily manufactured seamless wedding rings for which he owned a patent. From 1960 to 1972 Hermann was chairman of the “Wedding Rings” specialist group of the jewelry and silver goods industry association in Pforzheim . In 1978 Herrmann sold his patent along with the devices and customer list to a Bavarian company.

From 1950 to 1954 he worked as a juror at the Heilbronn District Court , from 1954 to 1958 as a juror in the jury trial Heilbronn.

Far more than his company, Herrmann became known as an official for shooting sports . His father was already a marksman and introduced the young Oskar to shooting from an early age. In 1923, Oskar Herrmann joined the Heilbronn rifle guild and then regularly took part in shooting competitions with a room nozzle and a fire nozzle , and from the late 1920s also with the small-bore rifle . As such, he also worked on the entire board of the German Rifle Federation . In 1954 he gave the initiative to re-establish the 1st Heilbronn shooting club , and in 1963 to re-establish the shooting club in 1903 Heilbronn . In the 1950s and 1960s he took part in several state and federal shootings. In 1960 he was appointed to the honorary committee of the German Shooting Federation, which he chaired from 1961 to 1992. In 1962 he was the supervisor of the German national shooting team at the World Cup in Cairo . In 1963 he represented the German Rifle Federation at the 9th Austrian Federal Shooting. In 1964 he brought the German Rifle Club to his home town of Heilbronn, but narrowly missed entry into the presidium in the presidium election. In 1966 he was responsible for the invasion of nations and the award ceremonies at the Rifle World Championships in Wiesbaden. From 1967 to 1973 he was a member of the Presidium of the German Shooting Federation, which he represented on numerous international occasions, including a. also at the Olympics in Munich, where he was responsible for the award ceremony. He remained an active marksman and functionary throughout his life. When he was almost 90 years old, he took part in senior competitions and appeared as a keynote speaker at shooting events. He has received many awards for his commitment.

In addition to shooting sports, Herrmann was also interested in tennis . In 1924 he was a founding member of the tennis club Sununnen Heilbronn and was chairman of this club from 1928 to 1941 and from 1948 to 1956. He was also a member of the Heilbronn District Hunters' Association, for which he carried out the audit from 1964 to 1980 and was a member of its honorary council from 1956 to 1986 .
