Robo Geisha ( Japanese ロ ボ ゲ イ シ ャ ) is a 2009 Japanese science fiction film directed by Noboru Iguchi .

action

After Robo Geisha rescued the top candidate for the post of Prime Minister of Japan from devilish robot demons disguised as Tengu , she tells the Prime Minister her story:

Yoshie Kasuga was trained as a geisha like her sister Kikue . But she was always in the shadow of her older sister and had to do menial jobs. When entrepreneur Hikaru steps into their lives, she sees her chance to outdo her sister. But the alleged Prince Charming only sees the two of them as killer women. Together with his father, he runs the steel and armaments company Kageno Steel and kidnapped numerous girls in order to turn them into killer cyborgs with the appearance of geishas. He lets the two sisters compete against each other. The anger at her sister gives Yoshie unimagined powers. So the role of both sisters is changing. Kikue is also trained as a killer robot, but from now on she is in the shadow of her sister. She can only keep up with her cold-bloodedness.

When Yoshie is supposed to wipe out a group of people who are active against the steel manufacture, the tide turns again. Yoshie doesn't have the heart to wipe out the resistance group, consisting of family members of the geishas, and spares them. Hikaru is angry and now monitors Yoshie more closely. On another assignment, Yoshie takes on her client again and is almost killed by the Tengus, demon-like robot girls with bizarre masks. The seriously injured Yoshie is being repaired by the underground movement and is supposed to join them to free their children. She thinks this project is hopeless, but the movement starts on its own.

Once there, Hikaru's true plan is revealed. After the movement is almost completely killed, his palace is transformed into a robot that is supposed to drop a bomb, 17 times more powerful than an atomic bomb , into Mount Fuji . Yoshie sets out to thwart this venture. In the meantime, however, her sister's memory has been erased and she opposes her. Yoshie manages to bring Kikue's memories back to mind, and the two robot geishas unite. You can stop Hikaru, who controls the robot via cybersautics , and let the robot explode over Japan. The two find their peace afterwards.

criticism

The film received praise for its wacky humor full of bizarre ideas. So the RoboGeishas fighting amongst a tailbone - Katana against each other or shoot ninja stars from her butt. The animation of the giant robot, on the other hand, is reminiscent of old Godzilla films and the film partly contains references to the Transformers series. In addition to these special effects , the film also contains numerous splatters that are less realistic and more reminiscent of cartoons . Some CGI blood splatters, however, seem rather cheap.
