Rock & Rollinger is a Swabian dialect rock and rock cabaret band from Westerstetten near Dornstadt . The band was founded in 2008 by Andy Susemihl in the role of Dr. Horst Rock and Thommy Bloch founded as Manfred Rollinger .

history

Guitarist and producer Susemihl and singer and cabaret artist Bloch founded the band at the end of 2008. When Dr. Rock and Manfred Rollinger portray two clichéd characters from Essen and the Swabian Alb .

Dr. Horst Rock (Susemihl) is a guitarist, songwriter and producer, but would love to be a rock star in America. He dreams of making a lot of money, meeting great women and never having to get up before 10 a.m. His stage outfit includes tight lederhosen, a flowing long hair wig and a mustache, and he often speaks German-dyed and broken English. According to the fictional story of the band, Horst meets the farmer Manfred Rollinger (Bloch) when he rams his 1979 Mercedes 450 SEL with his Bulldog . The farmer, who always appears with glasses, hat, checked shirt and knee breeches does not have a driver's license and the two tried to clarify the question of guilt of the accident without the police over karaoke and beer. Fate was ultimately to blame, and the two formed Rock & Rollinger. Their declared goal is to "rock the Berlin Olympic Stadium with 80,000 Swabian fans".

Contents and styles of music

The texts written by the duo are in East Swabian. A number of titles show a self-deprecating view of the Swabians and their peculiarities, for example "Die Schwabenhymne", "Sommer auf dr Alb" or "Kehrwoche". Other songs have a serious background, for example environmental protection or social problems, such as "Sau Karle, Sau" or "Tagesschau". In an interview with the television station Regio TV Schwaben , the two band members stated that the roles would also serve to address critical questions and taboo topics and still make the audience laugh.

The two musicians use a number of different musical styles in their songs, including reggae , blues , folk music or heavy metal . Some songs contain elements from other pieces of music, sometimes also cover versions such as "Sei andersch" ( Pretenders by Foo Fighters ) or "Vo dr Alb ra" ( Rammstein ).

Vo dr Alb ra appears in season 2, episode 15 of the US series The Blacklist .
