Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at Disney's Hollywood Studios: an upside-down car welcomes guests

As rock 'n' Roller Coaster , two of the rail guide her, identical steel coasters in the theme parks Disneyland Resort Paris - Walt Disney Studios Park and Disney's Hollywood Studios , Florida , respectively.

In 1999 the facility in Orlando was opened with the subtitle Starring: Aerosmith , and in 2002 that near Paris with the addition of avec Aerosmith .

history

idea

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler invented the name of the train and turned the idea into reality with a Disney soundtrack.

Planning and construction work

The planning was very difficult at first as it is the first roller coaster to be built in this style. In the roller coaster, which was built in a relatively small building in a short time, the parts had to be adjusted to the millimeter. In the interior, numerous cables run across the building: There are over 500 lights distributed in the room. The railway was built first, then the building.

Finished track

After successful work with Aerosmith , it went into operation together with the new Walt Disney Studios Park and in what is now Hollywood Studios Florida.

Special features and route

At the beginning the visitor is shown a preshow regarding the band and the first confrontation with the prototype . The station is an improvised storage room that has been equipped with many light sources. This area is where the control room is located, where the trains and the journey are controlled. By dividing the station into an entry and exit area, all four trains can be used on the roller coaster at the same time. In order to guarantee operation of the system without complications, a fifth train was provided by the manufacturer Vekoma , which can be maintained on a separate siding. The roller coaster ride starts with a so-called “catapult start”, in which the car is accelerated to 92 km / h in less than three seconds with a maximum of 24 people. With the help of so-called LSM (Linear Synchronous Motors), the roller coaster, which weighs tons , is accelerated from a standing start on an approximately 50-meter-long, horizontal route using the principle of electromagnetic induction . The start is supported by a previously displayed countdown. Since the cars drive to music specially played by the band Aerosmith , each trip is individual. The Rock 'n' Roller Coaster is one of the indoor or dark roller coasters .

Soundtrack

In honor of Aerosmith , two loudspeakers were built into each seat and the audience heard the following Aerosmith songs:

  • Car 1: Nine Lives ,
  • Car 2: Sweet Emotion ,
  • Car 3: Back in the Saddle and Dude (looks like a lady) ,
  • Car 4: Young Lust , Fine and Love in an elevator ,
  • Car 5: Love in an elevator and Walk this way .
