Roderick Duncan McKenzie
Roderick Duncan McKenzie (born February 3, 1885 in Carman , Manitoba ; † May 6, 1940 ) was a Canadian sociologist who is one of the representatives of the Chicago School of Sociology .
After studying and briefly teaching at the University of Manitoba , McKenzie moved to the University of Chicago in 1913 , where he studied sociology and received his doctorate in 1920 with a dissertation in urban sociology . In 1925 he edited the programmatic anthology on urban sociology of the Chicago School together with Robert E. Park and Ernest Burgess .
McKenzie has taught as a professor of sociology at the University of Washington and the University of Michigan . With his derivations from botany he is one of the founders of social ecology .
