Rodger Bumpass
Rodger Albert Bumpass (born November 20, 1951 in Little Rock , Arkansas ) is an American actor and voice actor.
Life
Bumpass attended Little Rock Central High School, where he got his first experience in the theater. He attended Arkansas State University, where his focus was on Internet radio and theater. He later worked in various fields as a speaker, film developer, cameraman, audio engineer and technical director.
While at KAIT, he wrote, produced and starred in a nightly comedy program called the Mid-Century Nonsense Festival Featuring Kumquat Theater . In 1976 he graduated from the A-State; After a recommendation from an A-State professor that Bumpass should consider professional theater, he went to New York in June 1977.
Career
In 1977 he played a role in the music and comedy roadshow That's Not Funny, That's Sick of the National Lampoon and toured with them until 1978. In the same year he appeared for HBO on the TV special Disco Beaver from Outer Space . In 1979, Bumpass was cast in a leading role in a National Lampoon film entitled Jaws 3, People 0 . The film, however, was based on observations from the producers of the film Jaws canceled. In 1980, Bumpass created the character Fartman to appear on the National Lampoon LP The White Album , which later inspired the Howard Stern character of the same name .
Bumpass is now active as a voice actor. He is best known as the voice of Squidward Tentacles and many other characters in the Nickelodeon animated series SpongeBob SquarePants .
In 2012, Bumpass was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for his role as Squidward Tentacle in SpongeBob SquarePants .
