Rodolphe Imhoof

Rodolphe Imhoof (* 1947 in Geneva , resident in Zofingen , Canton Aargau ) is a Swiss diplomat .

Life

Imhoof studied at the University of Geneva Jus his studies with and completed doctorate in law from.

In 1974 Rodolphe Imhoof joined the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and was employed as a trainee in Bern and London . From 1975 to 1977 he worked in the trade department of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs . He was then a member of the Swiss delegation to the OECD until 1982 . He began his service at the Swiss embassy in Beijing in 1982 and was appointed counselor in 1984. From 1984 to 1987 he was entrusted with various tasks in the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, Bern. In 1987 he began his service as the first employee of the head of mission in Athens . In 1991 he was transferred to Bonn in the same position .

As Swiss ambassador for Costa Rica , Nicaragua and Panama , based in San José , he took up his post after being appointed by the Swiss Federal Council on September 3, 1996 , replacing his predecessor Eric Pfister . He stayed there before becoming head of Political Department II Asia / Oceania in the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs. On October 20, 2005, Rodolphe Imhoof was appointed ambassador to Thailand and Cambodia by the Swiss Federal Council . He replaced his predecessor Hans-Peter Erismann in the Swiss embassy in Bangkok on February 6, 2006. In his role as ambassador, he took part in the 2008 donor conference after Cyclone Nargis . He remained in this office until August 13, 2009.

Until March 2013, Rodolphe Imhoof was then ambassador to UNESCO and the International Organization of Francophonie (OIF), both based in Paris . His successor was Jean-Frédéric Jauslin .
