Rodrigo Areias

Rodrigo Areias (* 1976 ) is a Portuguese film director and film producer .

Life

He attended the Escola Superior de Belas Artes at the University of Porto before completing a directing specialization in New York . As a recreational musician, his ties to music are strong. He kept making music video clips for various artists, including WrayGunn , Rita Redshoes and The Legendary Tigerman , who provided the soundtrack for his film Tebas .

Areias' short film Corrente ("Current") won a number of awards in Portugal and Brazil, including both the Audience Award and the Best Picture Award at the Curtas Vila do Conde short film festival . His idiosyncratic "Portuguese Western" Estrada de Palha ("Street made of straw", 2012) was nominated for Best Film at the Caminhos do Cinema Português film festival . The film received some attention. He was presented on a tour through various cultural institutions in Portugal , accompanied live by Rita Redshoes and The Legendary Tigerman, also at its premiere at the Curtas-Vila-do-Conde film festival.

His work as a film producer includes over 80 productions, including many short films, but also international productions such as Porto (2016).
