Rodrigo Pereira Possebon (born February 13, 1989 in Sapucaia do Sul ) is a Brazilian - Italian football player .
Career
Possebon mostly plays in the defensive central midfield. He started his career at the Brazilian soccer club SC Internacional . At Internacional he was discovered by Manchester scout John Calvert-Toulmin and directed to Manchester United .
Possebon signed a contract with Manchester in January 2008. He was given the shirt number 34, previously held by Ryan Shawcross , who had migrated to Stoke City .
He made his professional debut for Manchester on the first day of the 2008/09 season when he came on in the 63rd minute for Ryan Giggs against Newcastle United ; the game ended 1-1. However, most of the season he spent in the reserve team of the Red Devils , which operates in the Premier Reserve League . In July 2009, the Red Devils gave him to the end of the season on loan to the Portuguese first division club Sporting Braga . There he was denied an assignment in the SuperLiga league , only a short assignment in qualifying for the UEFA Europa League was recorded until the end of the loan period.
In August 2010, Possebon moved with immediate effect to the Brazilian first division club FC Santos , where he received a four-year contract until 2014.
Although he was born in Brazil, Possebon has Italian citizenship because of his father's descent and is therefore also eligible to play for the Italian national teams. He made his debut in the Italian U-20 team on April 22, 2009 in the game against Germany, which ended in a 5-0 defeat.
