The Roelckestraße in Berlin district of Weissensee that name demonstrably since at least 1875. It is located in Founder quarter .
Origin of name
It was named after the art gardener, building contractor and real estate speculator Hermann Roelcke (1832-1896).
history
The street is located in the Gründerviertel - an area in Weißensee whose streets and squares are named after people who made outstanding contributions to the development and expansion of Weißensee during the founding period . Hermann Roelcke was one of the financial supporters of Gustav Adolf Schön .
When the municipality of Weißensee was still independent until 1920, the street was of greater importance, which has now been replaced by Berliner Allee. In the south it lies in the development area of Neu-Weißensee at the end of the 19th century. Between 1875 and 1893, the cemeteries were set up between Pistoriusstraße and Rennbahnstraße, which were to be set up outside the inhabited areas according to the current Prussian land law. The development of Berlin into the capital of the German Empire in 1871 also resulted in demand from Berlin. At the turn of the century, on the eastern side of the street towards Schönstrasse, was the horse market (the site of today's Parkklinik).
Course of the road
