Roger Plaxton
Hayward Alan Roger Plaxton (born June 2, 1904 in Parry Sound , Ontario , † December 20, 1963 in Toronto , Ontario) was a Canadian ice hockey player . At the Olympic Winter Games in 1928 , he won the gold medal as a member of the Canadian national team. His cousins Herbert and Hugh were also Olympic champions in ice hockey in 1928.
Career
For Canada , Roger Plaxton took part in the 1928 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz , where he and his team won the gold medal. Together with his cousin Herbert , in contrast to most of the Olympic team, he did not belong to the Toronto Varsity Grads, who had won the Allan Cup in 1927 , but his cousin Hugh was able to convince national coach Conn Smythe of the qualities of the two. In the course of the tournament Roger Plaxton completed three games in which he remained pointless and punished. After his career as an ice hockey player, Plaxton worked for an insurance company until his death in 1963 at the age of 59.
