Olga von Lützerode

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Olga Freiin von Lützerode (born May 23, 1836 in Saint Petersburg , † January 29, 1917 in Hanover ) was a German nurse , founder , founder and director of the Clementinenhaus , a hospital in Hanover.

Life

Olga Freiin von Lützerode was the daughter of Major General Carl August von Lützerode (1794–1864), the Saxon ambassador to the Russian court, and his wife Laura, nee. Countess Schimmelmann (1798–1857). She grew up in Ahrensburg Castle and was trained as a nurse at the University Clinics in Kiel . She then worked in Frankfurt (Oder) and - at the request of Empress Augusta - in Berlin . Their lady-in-waiting Adeline von Schimmelmann was her niece.

After Lützerode asked to train nurses in Hanover for the private care of the sick , she set up a hospital there with her own funds, which was then named Clementinenhaus and was also headed by Lützerode from 1875. The name was derived from the Latin "clementia dei", which means " meekness of God ".

In 1902, the baroness wrote about the relationships between the noble family von Lützerode from around 1150 onwards.

In the course of the hospital construction, a path was built behind the barracks on Welfenplatz in the (today's) district of List around 1875 . In 1898 it was initially named "Am Clementinenhaus" after the hospital and was renamed Lützerodestrasse in 1900 while the hospital founder was still alive .
